Who we are

Isabel

“For me everything started in Lisbon, during an Italian class organized by Academia Sénior de Carnide  where I met Angela, Fernando, Pinuccio and Stefania. It was kind of a collaborative lunch where I tried a delicious pasticioto prepared by Angela!
Since that moment I became enthusiastic about the idea of participating in a voluntary project in Italy and really attentive in looking for my own opportunity! The thing is that I’m 56 years old and I just became unemployed, it means that I have all the time in the world and I want to get to know people, places, projects, and cultures…”

Lurdes

"This was my first time as a volunteer on this type of project. I am resident of Amadora, close to Lisbon, 62 years old, retired from public service, my main role – despite of doing many other things – was to “assure the well-being of the volunteers in an aspect of food, but not only”.  I consider myself a creative person, ready to exchange ideas".

 António

"I knew about the project from Isabel and I enrolled myself because there was lack of male participants. I’m 61 years old, retired, and I had never visited the south of Italy before. I thought it was a fantastic opportunity. I’m a handyman ready for a volunteer job".

Manuel

"I participated in this adventure out of curiosity and a desire for meeting new people and cultures. Italy is one of my favorite places to visit and having the chance to go through the region of Puglia, with its incredibly beautiful beaches overlooking the Adriatic Sea, castles, monuments and buildings bearing the weight of history was a pleasure for the eyes and the senses. I have high hopes for  the city of Lecce and I want the city to succeed in its bid for European Capital of Culture 2019".
