Arrival in Lecce: first night

We were four participants who went to Lecce – a little town in the south of Italy, and a candidate for the European Capital of Culture 2019.

The group departed from Lisbon (Lurdes, Isabel and António) and Porto (Manuel) and got together in Rome Airport. The whole trip was really calm, with just a slight turbulence on the way to Lecce. There was a predicted 2 hour break between the flights but it eventually took 4 hours, due to the delay of a second plane linking Roma and Lecce.

During the day we went to Brindisi and then at night we arrived in Lecce. There at the bus stop we met up with Sara Marzo and Nunzia Delle Done – two representatives from the organisation VulcaniCamente, who were already waiting for us and who kindly helped our group to get to our house in Lecce.

Once our suitcases was unpacked, then we went for dinner at a traditional restaurant localized in a historic part of Lecce where we tried “pizza a metro” served on a wooden board. After that we went for a stroll around the city and  returned home to get a deserved rest.
